Fion Wine Pub Austin

Wine Bars

Fion Wine Pub is a destination hangout on the western outskirts of Austin. If you’re looking for a tasty, playful, and thoughtful glass of wine or beer, as well as killer pub grub, she has you covered. Fion has been doing its thing for a few years now and has matured into a secret haven for wine, beer, cigar, and great chow lovers.

Although, I’ve never bought a wine bottle to take home with me, I can say that the by-the-glass program (with over 60 wines by-the-glass) is the place to be. On a recent visit, I had the ’06 Esporao Alentejo Red Reserva (Portugal) and the ’07 Abacela Tempranillo (South Oregon). Both came recommended by Josh McKay (the owner and gracious host) and were unmitigated and unusual choices. I woke up the next morning dreaming about the Esporao. It rocked! With 19 wine flights, there is something for everyone. The retail set appears to be fairly heavy with California, some Australian, and a little Argentina, though there are some French, Italian, and Spanish, too. By the bottle pricing is basically retail, not your typical winebar at 2 to 3 times retail…

Wine Bars

These cats have created the only wine bar and store of its kind in Austin. This is not Vino 100 with the ‘unfamiliar wines’ on the shelf so that you don’t know the lesser quality and tremendously higher prices you pay. And although I am a big fan of Lake Travis Wine Trader, Wink, and Fion Wine PubVino Vino has found its own unique path with its clever selection and passion. This is where I'd go if I wanted to be turned on to liquid heaven that I might not know or if I was in the mood to be electrified. This is a warm and inviting wine lover’s haven. This is THE wine place to get turned on to the cool & groovy. THE place to meet someone after work. THE place before a play or after a movie. THE place to get away to relax on a Sunday afternoon or just to pick up a cool bottle of juice for dinner at home. There is a reason Vino Vino recently received a “Silver” in the Good Taste Report’s “Austin’s Best Wine Stores”. This is truly a deserving treasure nestled in the Hyde Park Neighborhood.

Educated, passionate and extremely service-oriented. The passion shows. These guys love wine! They want to turn you on!

Lake Travis Wine Trader

Wine Bars

The Lake Travis Wine Trader is that rare sort of place where you find yourself contemplating at certain moments that there is nowhere you would rather be than right where you are.

A great selection of wines. A warm atmosphere. An educated and passionate team is at attention to guide your wine exploration safely, which is always great to find! Sit and try many different wines and decide what you want to take home. Having Kenny Burrell playing in the background doesn’t hurt either!
