2006 Borsao Grenache/Tempranillo Crianza (1/25/10)

Wine of the Week

Campo de Borja, Aragon, Spain

$13 A- +5 ***

Killer quaffer! A few weeks back, this wine won 2nd place out of 15 wines in a "red beans wine pairing" blind tasting (with "seasoned" winefolks/foodies). It was up against Von Strasser, Molly Dooker, Chapoutier, Produttori, Turley, and Jaboulet, to name a few... Little brother to the Borsao Tres Picos, this is a steal. Very consistent year to year, the '07 is out and about, too. Black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, dried cherry, sweet (in a good way) strawberry compote... medium + acid / medium to full-bodied. 14.5% alc.

Fun food wine. Try with red beans & rice, lamb, middle eastern flair, most anything grilled, or on its own.

Importer: Jorge Ordonez

Texas Distributor: Prestige Wine Cellars
